For me, one of the things on my bucket list is to take all the family (wife and 3 children) to Canada for a White Christmas. From a cost point of view, this one is up there when it comes to expensive.
How am I going to be able to tick this item off my bucket list. By making sure that my business is performing and providing sufficient cash flow to allow us to afford the holiday.
The performance and success of my business will be the ultimate decider of whether we have a White Christmas or not. The more successful my business, the more likely it is that I can achieve the goal. This gives me a reason to work hard and make good business decisions. It gives me a reason to strive when things are hard.
What is on your bucket list? Is it a holiday? Is it jumping from a plane? Is it being able to put your kids or grand kids through university? What ever the bucke list item, your business will help you achieve it.
It is important to understand why you are doing what you are doing and also to write it down. Writing it down makes the bucket list real. Once you have written it, keep it with you as a reminder.
Business decisions will start to become easier. Will this change in direction help me tick things off my bucket list? If the answer is no, then don’t do it. If the answer is yes, then go for it.
